20 Jul COMPLETEBODY Spotlight: Adrian Crichlow
When it comes to track & field, and running in general, both in practice and in teaching Adrian Crichlow is nothing short of an expert. Adrian is heavily involved in the Athletics Community in New York. He’s an Executive Board Member of USA Track & Field – the United States national governing body for the sports of track and field, cross country running, road running and racewalking. He’s also a strength and conditioning coach to multiple Olympians and medalists- including himself. Throughout his career as a competing athlete during high school and college, Adrian has won multiple titles in New York-based competitions, including 300m indoor and 4x100m relay outdoor races. You can find a full list of Adrian’s titles won in the greater New York City area here.
From his own passion for track & field, Adrian developed a talent for training and progressing young athletes, many of whom successfully went on to participate in the Olympics. Most notably, his training program produced two 2012 London Olympics participants, one of whom received two bronze medals, one in the 400m race and another in the 4x400m relays. Adrian himself also participated in the Olympics for track & field on more than one occasion. He first appeared in the 2004 Olympics in Athens, and then went on to win his first Olympic medal in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing where he won Silver in the 4x100m relay. When it comes to coaching both himself and others, Adrian says that what he enjoys most is “setting and reaching milestones, both big and small.” In private training sessions with clients, Adrian’s goal is always to first “identify and assess weaknesses” and then to “strengthen those weaknesses.”
In addition to being a master in sports and sports performance training, Adrian is also an academic. In 2005 he graduated from the University of Kansas and then moved on to earn an MBA from New York University in Business Management. Here at CompleteBody, we’re lucky enough to say that Adrian has graciously offered to extend his training expertise and years of experience to the CompleteBody community and to its members. With his plan to start teaching running classes at the CompleteBody gym, Adrian hopes to employ the same skills and techniques that he uses to train aspiring athletes and Olympians to help CompleteBody members reach their fitness goals, whether they be sports-related or physique-related.
When it comes to fitness and training, Adrian’s favorite mantra is “Get It!” Because “to get something means that you have to exert some kind of work to achieve it. Whatever it is, it’s not going to be reachable if you don’t work for it.” We’re proud and honored to welcome such a legend into our CompleteBody family!
