Sensei Kristian Perez is a black belt in American Goju Karate and a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He has been involved in martial arts for over 20 years, beginning at the age of 6. Kristian was formerly the assistant to the head instructor at Modern Martial Arts NYC, currently head instructor of the mixed martial arts program at NYC Tae Kwon Do, and Vice President of the House of Goju, a non for profit organization whose aim is to teach
underprivileged children learn Karate at no cost. Kristian has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from John Jay College.
Our Mini Dragons program introduces the fundamental building blocks of martial arts in a fun and enthusiastic environment. Students in this program will not only learn how to defend themselves but acquire skills such as discipline, respect, courage, and perseverance.

In the Junior Classes students begin their black belt journey in World Goju Karate. In this complete system, their curriculum will introduce them to their basics in Kata, strikes, self-defense, and take-downs. Students here can also try out for the karate team and compete in Kumite, kickboxing, or Kata Competitions.
Goju-Ryu Karate is one of many of the original Okinawan Karate styles. Developed by Chojun
Miyagi Sensei, the style was influenced by both Chinese and Japanese Martial Arts styles. Miyagi chose
the name Goju (“go” meaning “hard” and “ju” meaning “soft”), to highlight that his style was composed
of both “hard” and “soft” styles.
